Emergency Department Technician

The Emergency Department Technician will work in the Emergency Department at UAB St. Vincent's St. Clair in Pell City, AL. The schedule includes multiple shifts: days 7am-7pm, evenings 12p-12a, and nights 7pm-7am.

What You Will Do

Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.

• Assist doctors, nurses, and other medical staff in implementing each patient's plan of care in the Emergency Department by performing clinical procedures and other tasks within scope of practice.
• Assist with observation of patients gathering data and identifying patient care needs. Document patient information accurately in medical records.
• Prepare patients for examination and treatment.
• Collects specimens such as blood, urine, and stool samples for laboratory testing.
• Set up and operate medical equipment needed for patient care.
• Help with transportation of patients within the hospital.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization within the Emergency Department, adhering to infection control standards. Replenish supplies and ensure necessary equipment is readily available.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of technician education in a specific area and specialty e.g. EMT-Basic EMT-Paramedic or PCT (patient care technician) preferred.
