CNC Machinist Mill & Lathe

HiFyve is hiring a CNC Machinist Mill & Lathe in the Manufacturing industry.

Salary: $25.00 - $36.00 per hour (based on experience)

Shift: 1st Shift & 3rd Shift Available

Location: Troy, IL

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Set up, adjust, and operate CNC machines, including CNC mills and lathes, to perform precision machining operations.

Set up and operate CNC lathes, with a strong emphasis on turning operations, tooling, offsets, and setup procedures.

Set up and operate CNC milling machines as needed.

Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines.

Load tools, verify offsets, and make tool and wear adjustments to ensure proper tool performance.

Monitor machine feeds, speeds, tooling, and machine performance during machining to ensure accuracy and quality.

Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and work instructions.

Measure, examine, and test completed parts using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection equipment to verify conformance to specifications.

Perform CNC machine setups, including fixture setup, tool changes, work offsets, and first-piece inspections.

Make minor CNC program edits and adjustments as needed.

CNC programming experience is a plus.

Document work performed through required paperwork, inspection records, and production documentation.

Perform minor mechanical and assembly tasks as needed.

Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and dimensional issues.

Share expertise and provide guidance to peers within the machine shop.

Maintain safety standards and protect machines, tooling, and materials from potential damage.

Follow all safety policies and procedures consistently.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience with strong knowledge of machining operations and tolerances.

Strong CNC lathe experience highly preferred, with experience in CNC turning, setup, tooling, offsets, and production machining.

Experience operating and setting up CNC mills.

Strong understanding of basic math, machining principles, feeds and speeds, tooling, and geometric tolerances.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering plans, GD&T requirements, and work instructions.

Ability to use precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

Ability to troubleshoot machining and tooling issues and make necessary adjustments.

CNC programming experience is a plus.

Preferred: Mastercam knowledge and CNC programming experience.

Preferred: GD&T and CMM inspection methods.

Preferred: Familiarity with SPC, Lean Manufacturing, and process improvement practices.

Forklift and crane operation skills, with the ability to safely operate equipment, are a plus.

Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment.
