EHS Specialist I (Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist I) Reports To: EHS Manager Position Summary We are seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist I to support and maintain a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant manufacturing workplace. This role is responsible for assisting with environmental, health, and safety programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company standards while promoting a strong safety culture throughout the facility. The ideal candidate is passionate about workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement. They will partner with employees, supervisors, contractors, and leadership to identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and support regulatory compliance across all manufacturing operations. Please note that duties and responsibilities may change with or without notice. Perform daily safety inspections throughout production, laboratories, warehouse, shipping, and receiving areas. Conduct weekly hazardous waste inspections of satellite accumulation areas and maintain hazardous waste manifests. Perform monthly stormwater inspections and collect stormwater samples during required qualifying rain events. Support hazardous waste minimization initiatives for thermoset and thermoplastic manufacturing operations. Identify environmental, health, and safety risks and assist in implementing corrective actions. Monitor and track corrective actions resulting from incident and accident investigations. Observe workplace behaviors and address unsafe acts or conditions through coaching and corrective measures. Promote safe work practices and ensure employees understand proper safety procedures. Assist with Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities and Safety Committee meetings. Help develop, revise, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and documentation. Conduct employee training on topics including Hazard Communication, Hazardous Waste Management, PPE, and other safety programs. Promote environmental and safety awareness through formal training sessions and daily employee interaction. Assist with the annual Hazardous Materials Business Plan (HMBP) updates. Support industrial hygiene monitoring activities as needed. Perform ergonomic assessments and recommend improvements. Assist in developing and implementing EHS programs that comply with OSHA, EPA, and company requirements. Support regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance initiatives. Maintain accurate EHS records and documentation. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to workplace safety and environmental performance. Qualifications Education High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred. Experience Minimum of one (1) year of Environmental, Health & Safety experience. Manufacturing experience preferred. Experience in composites or industrial manufacturing environments is a plus. Knowledge & Skills Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable environmental and safety regulations. Familiarity with: Hazardous Materials Business Plan (HMBP) Basic understanding of Local, State, and Federal regulatory requirements. Knowledge of electrical and high-voltage safety practices is preferred. Experience supporting emergency preparedness and incident response programs. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build professional relationships across all levels of the organization. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications. Physical Requirements Frequently walk throughout the manufacturing facility. Stand, bend, reach, climb, and lift throughout the workday. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated production areas. Work safely around manufacturing equipment, chemicals, and industrial processes. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree or higher in Environmental Health & Safety or a related discipline. Experience conducting safety training and employee engagement programs. Experience with accident investigations and root cause analysis. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies. OSHA 30 certification or similar EHS certification is a plus. #J-18808-Ljbffr
