Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Palliative Care - FT

Job Overview This position operates within a collaborative model involving residents, fellows, attendings, staff clinicians, and outpatient clinic patients. The role reports to the Medical Director or approved staff physician and works with PCCs, staff nurses, and discharge coordinators to plan, implement, and evaluate medical and nursing care. Responsibilities include primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization, teaching residents and medical students, staff development, patient education, and discharge planning. Key Responsibilities Assume responsibility for primary and urgent medical management and emergency stabilization of all critically ill patients. Teach residents, medical students, and staff; develop and conduct clinical education sessions. Develop and implement discharge plans and patient education materials. Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with nurses and discharge coordinators. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and system protocols. Execute other related duties as required and adapt behavior to the specific patient population. Qualifications Education: Master’s degree in nursing, or Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant medicine, Health Sciences, or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program. Experience: None required; Preferred - 3 years related medical experience. Licensure/Certification (Nurse Practitioner): Valid current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the state of practice; Family or Adult/Geriatric or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification (ANCC or AANPCP); BCLS/ACLS certification; eligibility for prescriptive authority. Licensure/Certification (Physician Assistant): Valid PA license in the state of practice, NCCPA certified; BCLS/ACLS certification; eligibility for prescriptive authority. Computer: Proficiency with Windows applications and related software packages; data entry and retrieval skills. Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and professionally. Interpersonal: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments. Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule and be on call. Transportation: Reliable transportation within and between facilities. Physical & Environmental Demands The role requires lifting 20–50 pounds occasionally or 10–25 pounds frequently, with moderate manual handling. The incumbent must stand for extended periods, stoop, bend, reach, and handle arm or leg controls. Physical demands exceed those of a sedentary typical work environment. Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, and potential hazardous chemicals is possible. The position offers full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
