Summary:
The Assistant Director of Transportation will work to support students riding the bus in a variety of ways. This person will foster a positive bus riding experience by working with students, transportation staff, and school administration. This person will also create and maintain the district's bus routes using various computer programs.

Responsibilities:

• Run and maintain the district's routing software, create and revise bus stops, runs, routes and schedules as needed in order to maintain efficiency and as student transportation needs change, including training personnel on it as needed.
• Provide information regarding routes, route maps and district maps as required.
• Ensure student information is updated as needed; and prepare reports for district admin as needed.
• Assist drivers with supporting and monitoring behavior of students on the bus.
• Work with school administration and other staff in the resolution of discipline problems in a fair and just manner and maintain records of any action taken.
• Communicate with staff and parents regarding student issues and concerns and provide a timely response to parental inquiries and concerns.
• Coach and support drivers on trauma informed practices, de-escalation techniques, and effective bus management strategies.
• Serve as "back-up" for dispatch on a daily basis and fill in for anyone on our team with day-to-day operations (including bus driving) during their absence.

Qualifications:

• Associates degree or higher with related work experience.
• Have a CDL or immediately start the training towards a CDL license required. ZPS will provide this training if needed.
• Knowledge and/or willingness to be trained around restorative practices, trauma-informed practices, and CPI.
• Demonstrate leadership, team building skills and the ability to work with others.
• Have the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and work independently.
• Proficient computer and organizational skills are required along with the ability to adapt/learn the district's routing software.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively with drivers, parents, students, school personnel and the public; all while maintaining confidentiality.
• Be able to work in a fast-paced environment at times - August/September are busiest.

Schedule:

• 40 hours per week (typically 8:30 am - 5:30 pm), 52 weeks per year

Compensation:

Salaried position (Salary range is $45,000-$55,000/year depending work experience.)
