Animal Care TechnicianJob Location: Kannapolis, NCCompensation: TBDEligibility/Clearance: Candidate must be eligible to be employed in the United StatesJob Description:Key Responsibilities:Provide routine care to research animals to include feeding/watering animals handling and restraint of animals, and cage and bedding changeoutsMonitor animal room environmental conditionsObserve daily appearances and behaviors of experimental animals (both sick and healthy) and report to higher level employeeCapture, restrain, hold and position animals for procedures, examinations, and treatmentsDispense and administer medications per Veterinary Technician and/or Veterinarian ordersAssist with animal euthanasia and necropsy following prescribed protocols as requiredClean, decontaminate, and maintain animal wing spaces and cages in accordance with SOPsOperate autoclaves, washers, pressure sprayers and misters, and other lab equipmentUse appropriate PPE and equipment as described in SOPs to protect self and fellow workers from contamination, infection or injuryEnter/exit animal rooms and moves between animal rooms in strict accordance with SOPs to prevent cross contaminationAdhere to security and safety proceduresAssure that records, logs, and other documents are complete and maintainedFollow written and oral directionProvide weekend and holiday support as assignedPerform other duties as requiredSkills/Qualifications:Required:AA degree in animal science or related science preferred, HS diploma requiredMust have previous Laboratory Animal experience or animal experience in a professional environmentAALAS ALAT preferred or the ability to achieve AALAS ALAT certification within one (1) yearCapable of performing basic animal care duties with guidanceEffective verbal and written communicationEmployee is often required to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds, have visual and auditory aptitudeMust be able to receive and maintain site access and required clearancesEducation: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related fieldATR is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE) who will provide equal employment opportunity to employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, color, sex, pregnancy, national origin, age, veteran status, ancestry, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, family structure, genetic information, or mental or physical disability
