Primary Therapist

Position Summary The Primary Therapist provides individual, group, and family therapy, crisis intervention services, psychoeducation presentations, and experiential learning groups for clients and their families. Responsibilities Provide individual, group, and family therapy along with process groups, psychoeducational groups, and crisis intervention services. Conduct psychosocial assessments, develop treatment plans, write individual therapy notes, and prepare discharge summaries. Collaborate closely with the treatment team, including case managers, psychiatric nurse practitioners, the clinical director, and business development. Complete clinical documentation promptly in line with state, insurance, and Joint Commission regulations. Attend staff training and meetings as required by the employer. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or psychology. Experience working with addictions and mental health diagnoses. Ability to use counseling interventions such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and Family Systems. Understanding of an array of theories and models of addiction and mental illness. Knowledge of philosophies, practices, and outcomes of different treatment models. Understanding of relapse prevention through the continuum of care. Understanding of dually diagnosed populations. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Competency in gender‑specific issues, diverse cultures, and ability to incorporate client needs into treatment. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize daily and weekly tasks. Preferred knowledge of the KIPU electronic medical record system. CPR/First Aid certification.
