Euclid, Mount Prospect, IL 60056 Reports To: Manager of Athletics and Facilities Supervises: Athletic Coordinator, Part Time, seasonal Staff, Volunteer coaches Status: Full-time, Exempt Essential Functions The supervisor is responsible for the development, budgeting, organization and promotion of Youth and Adult Sports. Additionally, they will manage sports/athletic programs, camps/clinics, and events such as karate, tennis/pickleball, and camp tag-ons. This position oversees volunteers for all youth sports and miscellaneous district opportunities such as special events. Administrative Manages area personnel including recruiting, hiring, training, disciplining, evaluating, payroll, PTO, etc. Communicate with contractual service providers concerning programs. Assist with review and preparation of volunteer orientation and applicable forms Develop and administer the volunteer incentive program for coaches Responds to participant concerns, complaints and suggestions within 36 hours Coordinate volunteers for variety of RTPD special events & miscellaneous opportunities Liaison to external cooperative athletic programs and leagues Develop and administer the N.A.Y.S program for parents and coaches Prepares recreation team school usage request calendar Attends and participates in the Recreational Department meetings Involved with the Distinguished Agency participation (Department compliances) Assist with Departmental and Safety goals Participates in the bi-annual departmental SWOT Analysis Assists in the development of brochures, newsletters, electronic posts and notifications Participates with all program area projects Programming Develops and manages area operations statistical reports (trends, recommendations) Enters program information into the recreation software system Coordinates area programs and facility needs and schedules Develops new and inventive recreational programs Assists with all Special Events as requested Budgeting/Finance Develops and manages all aspects of the program area budgets and accounts Purchases and controls all necessary supplies and equipment for assigned programs. Tracks monthly/annual revenues and expenses for all area programs and develops reports as requested Monitors monthly financial reports, spending and revenues Risk Management Actively supports and enforces the safety program instituted by the Park District Participates in the district’s Loss Control Review participation (Program Area compliances) Makes a working knowledge of all general agency and department-specific safety rules Attends required safety program and in-service education meetings Corrects unsafe conditions and/or reports them to Safety Coordinator Uses material handling equipment or staff assistance when lifting and/or moving objects 50 pounds or heavier Addresses unsafe employee and patron behaviors by approaching, correcting and coaching Enforces safety disciplinary policies and procedures Uses protective gloves, masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to pathogens Fosters a working environment that promotes safe work habits and active participation in the agency’s risk management program Additional Functions Perform other duties and functions as requested Attend board meetings and prepare reports as requested Prepare routine and special reports as directed Actively participates in IPRA committee(s) Serves on assigned internal committees Supervise facilities as needed On call nights and weekends as needed Liaison to community committees as identified Maintains a thorough understanding of the Park District’s policies and operations. Enforce and interpret those policies as needed Develops and maintains working relationships with ALL park district departments Develop and maintain working relationships with community organizations and residents Continuing educational growth and professional memberships allowing access to outside resources and information Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation Administration or related field Possession of a valid driver’s license Proficient knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office applications Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 3 months of employment A high level of planning and problem-solving skills Recommended: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the Recreation field Certified Park and Recreation Professional Experience with Youth Athletics Ability to work well with external and internal customers Excellent (oral and written) communication and organization skills A high-level knowledge of programming Knowledge, Skill and Work Experience Ability to exercise mature and solid judgment in evaluating and rendering decisions in everyday operations as well as pressure type situations Ability to create harmonious team-oriented work environments that foster positive employee work relationships Ability to create and engage systems that convey a favorable Park District image with other village agencies, and the public Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers, recognizes diverse opinions and needs, and maintains a positive working relationship with all employees. Establishes and maintains the highest standards of ethical conduct Environmental Considerations Normal office conditions for majority of work. May include variation in temperature. May be required to work during various weather conditions, including cold and hot temperatures. May be exposed to occasional inclement weather, as position requires temporary outdoor work. The general work area indoors, in a smoke-free environment with controlled temperature and fluorescent lighting. May be exposed to natural and potentially extreme weather conditions while attending job related activities at locations away from the office. May be exposed to noise distractions from employees or equipment operation in adjacent work areas.
