Senior Operations ManagerThe Senior Operations Manager will lead high-volume transportation and distribution operations in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment. This individual will oversee multiple customer accounts within an assigned territory while maintaining strong standards for service, safety, efficiency, and profitability.The ideal candidate will bring significant transportation and logistics leadership experience, including private fleet operations, independent contractor management, and dispatch. Grocery, food distribution, and temperature-controlled or cold-chain experience are highly preferred.This role requires a hands on leader who can manage daily operations, strengthen customer relationships, evaluate existing processes, and implement improvements that support continued business growth.Following completion of training, the immediate schedule will be Sunday through Thursday. Final hours are still being determined, but possible schedules may include:9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.Flexibility is required to support a 24/7 operation, including occasional weekends, holidays, and overnight needs.Key Responsibilities• Oversee transportation, distribution, and operational activities for multiple customer accounts within the assigned territory• Manage dispatching, routing, and tracking of drivers and loads• Lead supervisors and frontline team members while communicating expectations, reinforcing accountability, and supporting strong performance• Maintain consistent communication with customers while delivering a high level of service• Investigate and resolve customer, shipper, driver, and operational concerns• Plan and organize staffing and daily workflows to ensure operational requirements are met• Implement schedule, policy, system, and procedural changes as needed• Partner with other managers and departments to establish and execute operational goals• Monitor compliance with company policies, safety requirements, customer contracts, and DOT and FMCSA regulations• Review expenditures and financial performance to identify opportunities to improve profitability and service• Develop and manage operational plans, policies, and budgets• Conduct employee training related to systems, safety, service, quality, and process improvement• Evaluate current systems and procedures and recommend practical improvements• Support the overall strategic direction and continued growth of the operationRequired Experience• At least five years of transportation and logistics experience, with a strong emphasis on account management• At least five years of leadership experience managing supervisors and frontline employees• At least five years of dispatch experience, including planning, routing, and tracking• Experience supporting private fleet operations and/or independent contractors• Strong knowledge of applicable state and federal DOT and FMCSA regulations• Experience leading operations within a fast paced, high volume environment• Strong customer relationship and service management experienceHighly Preferred Experience• Temperature controlled transportation or distribution• Grocery or food distribution• Cold chain operations• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish• Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related fieldSkills and Leadership Qualities• Strong operational judgment and business acumen• Proven ability to lead through complex challenges and changing priorities• Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills• Strong organizational and time management abilities• Excellent attention to detail• Clear and professional communication skills• Ability to remain calm, organized, and responsive in a dynamic environment• Strong understanding of strategic planning, resource allocation, employee leadership, and operational management• Commitment to accountability, integrity, and leading by example• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and transportation or workforce management systems• Experience with TruckMate, Samsara, or Paylocity is helpfulPhysical RequirementsThis position regularly requires standing and walking for extended periods. The employee may occasionally work within temperature controlled environments where conditions fluctuate.The role may also require:Occasional lifting of approximately 50 poundsAscending and descending stairs or rampsWorking within active transportation and distribution environments
