Position Overview Ortho Physical Therapist - Outpatient Day Shift (United States of America) Sign-on Bonus: up to $20,000 with a three-year commitment Job Title: Physical Therapist | Primary Location: Mary Free Bed at Covenant - Mackinaw Road | Department: Outpatient - Orthopedic | Employment Type: Regular / Full-time Shift: Monday to Friday, 4–10 hour days or 5–8 hour days, NO weekends or Holidays | Hours of Work: 7am to 5:30pm Compensation Range: $36.54 to $52.98 per hour (based on experience) | 1:1 Patient care | Unlimited Medbridge CEUs for all part-time or full-time staff. Key Responsibilities Assumes full responsibility for evaluating patient’s need for physical therapy. Planned and executed individual treatment programs in accordance with the State of Michigan licensure and PT scope of practice. Kept treatment skills upgraded through continuing education, evidence-based research, and program development. Performed job responsibilities in accordance with the program’s strategic objectives and goals. Provided patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of licensure and regulation (Q). Evaluated patient condition and established treatment goals in collaboration with patient, family, and treatment team. Established written treatment plans and administered treatment according to stated goals. Delegated responsibilities to physical therapist assistants and rehabilitation technicians as appropriate. Re‑evaluated patient’s status and effects of treatment, revised plan as necessary, and reviewed revised goals with patient and family. Evaluated patient’s need for medical equipment, ordered the equipment as necessary, and instructed patient and family on its use. Participated in planning for patient discharge, communicating with patient, family, community support/services, and environmental limitations. Used relevant software and hardware required to meet job responsibilities. Documented patient’s status and progress through initial evaluation, progress notes, and discharge summary according to internal/external time standards and reimbursement guidelines. Communicated with interdisciplinary team members to integrate physical therapy treatment plans. Instructed patients and families in physical therapy procedures, providing written instructions as necessary. Attended various meetings and in‑services as designated. Followed all hospital policy and procedures, including patient confidentiality and infection control. Met or exceeded program productivity expectations. Adhered to the Mary Free Bed Standards of Behavior when working with patients, coworkers, and community members. Supported program operations as assigned. Qualifications Graduate of Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Licensed with the State of Michigan to practice physical therapy. Maintains BLS certification to meet department/program protocol. Demonstrated knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret appropriate information to identify age‑specific needs. Complete competency‑based orientation at the time of hire and all required training and competency assessments annually. Proficiency in relevant software and hardware needed for job responsibilities. Other Responsibilities Serves as clinical instructor for physical therapy students. Supervises, teaches, and evaluates skills of students. Communicates with participating universities regarding skill levels of students. Participates in program development and/or research activities as assigned. Participates in orientation and training of new staff. Physical Demands Physical ability to lift, position, and transport patients, frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, twist, crawl, grasp, reach, and occasionally climb. Can lift up to 75 pounds, occasionally more, and exert up to 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, 10–20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
