Little Creek Outpatient Services

Position:  Counselor(full-time) Unit: Clinical

Scope of Duties:  Responsible for all clinical services provided to Clients from date of admission through date of discharge.

Primary Functions and responsibilities:

• Practicing ethical conduct and maintaining Client confidentiality at all times
• Creation and implementation of individualized treatment planning
• Conducting admission intakes and completing the Biopsychosocial Assessment and all other admission paperwork
• Creation and implementation of individualized treatment plan
• Facilitating individual, group and family therapy sessions as deemed clinically appropriate
• Coordinating case management needs and providing linkages and referrals to ancillary services.
• Working with Clients to create thorough individualized Aftercare Plans
• Collaborating with outside agencies and stakeholders who the Client has consented to be a part of their treatment
• Administering random and routine UA’s and breathalyzers
• Having functional knowledge of the Client Orientation Document

Educational and Training Qualifications for the position of Counselor:

A Master’s Degree or above from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in the human services) or other related field which includes a practicum in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. If the practicum did not take place in a drug and alcohol setting, the individual’s written training plan shall specifically address a plan to achieve counseling competency in chemical dependency issues.

Training Requirements

Complete the training requirements in PA Code 704.11 (relating to staff development program). Specifically:

• Must have a foundational knowledge of The Stages of Change Model and Motivational

Interviewing and take the DDAP-approved Stages of Change and Motivational Interviewing training within 1 year of hire (and no later than 7/1/2026 for clinicians hired before 7/1/21).

(b) Must become CPR/First Aid certified within 1 year or sooner as deemed necessary to meet Staffing Requirements.

(c) Complete no less than 25 hours of continuing education training in DDAP- or PCB-approved addiction and treatment related areas, on an annual basis. These areas include but are not limited to:

• Confidentiality
• Case Management
• Co-Occurring Disorders
• Screening and Assessment
• ASAM (2-day)
• Communicable Diseases
• Ethical Considerations
• Substance Abuse Trends

We are an outpatient drug and alcohol program offering PHP, IOP, and OP services to men and women in our community. Taking a true individualized approach to care, we maintain very manageable caseload sizes and operate as a treatment team.
