Security Officer

Security Officer - Washington, DC Responsibilities Safeguard employees, clients, visitors, contractors, members of the public, and client property by providing professional security and protective services at assigned locations throughout Washington, DC. Monitor assigned posts, entrances, exits, and surrounding areas to help prevent unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, safety concerns, and other security incidents. Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas and promptly report suspicious activity, safety hazards, emergencies, or unusual incidents. Monitor CCTV, access control systems, alarms, and other security equipment as required by the assigned post. Control access to facilities by verifying identification, credentials, visitor authorization, and other required documentation. Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, disturbances, and requests for assistance in accordance with company and client procedures. Contact and cooperate with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), DC Fire and EMS, Federal Protective Service (FPS), or other emergency and law enforcement agencies when appropriate. Complete daily activity reports, incident reports, visitor logs, and other required security documentation accurately and on time. Maintain a professional and visible security presence at all times. Provide professional customer service and assistance to employees, visitors, clients, and members of the public. Treat coworkers, clients, contractors, visitors, and members of the public with patience, professionalism, respect, and consideration. Avoid inappropriate, offensive, threatening, or unprofessional language or behavior while on duty. Communicate effectively with supervisors, management, coworkers, clients, and emergency personnel. Report security concerns, policy violations, safety hazards, and unusual activity to the appropriate supervisor. Maintain proper uniform and professional appearance throughout the entire assigned shift. Ensure uniforms, equipment, identification, and other issued items are clean, properly maintained, and serviceable. Perform all duties in a safe, professional, and responsible manner. Operate company or client vehicles safely when assigned and authorized. Organize and maintain security paperwork, logs, and records accurately. Follow all USP Security policies, client post orders, emergency procedures, and applicable District of Columbia requirements. Perform additional security-related duties as assigned based on the requirements of the contract or post. Requirements and Skills Must possess a current District of Columbia security officer license/registration, commonly referred to as a Security Officer (SO) license , when required for the position. Must meet all applicable DC licensing and training requirements for the assigned position. Must be able to successfully complete required criminal background screening. Must be able to pass a drug screening. Must be able to complete any required medical screening or physical examination applicable to the assignment. Must be able to stand, walk, patrol, and remain alert for extended periods, including shifts of up to 12 hours when required. Ability to operate security equipment such as metal detectors, X-ray screening equipment, CCTV systems, radios, and access control systems when required. Must maintain a neat, professional appearance and properly maintained uniform. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain professional and calm during emergencies, conflicts, or stressful situations. Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Ability to prepare accurate incident and daily activity reports. Must be dependable, punctual, and able to report to assigned shifts as scheduled. CPR, AED, First Aid, or other certifications may be required depending on the assigned contract or post. Previous security, military, law enforcement, or related experience is preferred but may not be required depending on the assignment. Schedule Full-time and part-time positions may be available.
