Physician Hospitalist Needed for part-time in Northeast Houston, TX

Overview Memorial Hermann Medical Group, a large physician‐employed network, is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Hospitalist to join the Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital in Humble, TX. The position is part‑time (7 consecutive shifts per month), requires no procedures, and is closed ICU. Responsibilities Attend and actively participate in hospital multidisciplinary rounds, serving as the primary service when requested. Cover Code Blue and Rapid Responses according to campus code committee recommendations. Provide admission services for the Emergency Department, incoming transfer patients, and direct or emergent admissions. Provide co‑management services for subspecialty services within the scope and privileges of the hospitalist provider. Provide consultative services for members of the Medical Staff within scope and privileges. Accept transfers of care when the patient is deemed appropriate for the hospitalist service and a physician‑to‑physician handoff occurs. Provide transfer center call for incoming non‑critical care medical patients. Provide timely evaluation of patients admitted to the hospital in accordance with Medical Executive Committee bylaws. Abide by and conform to hospital tenants, guidelines, and bylaws. Provide physician‑to‑physician sign‑out for patients transitioning to post‑acute facilities. Provide internal sign‑out at transitions of care consistent with standards of care. Provide 72‑hour narcotic prescriptions for patients transitioning to skilled nursing facilities when clinically appropriate. Participate in nursing and staff education when solicited by CNO, CMO, or COO. Respond to clinical queries in a timely fashion. Document history and physicals within 12 hours. Document discharge summaries within 48 hours of discharge order. Maintain current understanding of the regulatory environment related to status patients consistent with national guidelines. Provide post‑discharge coverage for appropriate home health orders up to two weeks or until seeing primary care physicians. Encourage in‑network utilization of resources for continuity of care unless specified by the patient or expertise is not available in the system. Respond in a timely manner to pages and callbacks from nursing staff unless it would impact patient safety or experience. In emergencies or disaster, provide additional coverage per campus protocol. Participate in continuing education activities to maintain or enhance knowledge and skills. Maintain ACLS certification. Direct patient care throughout the health care system via consult orders. Communicate with attending physician, nurse, family, and other treatment team members to obtain appropriate patient care plan. Effectively communicate with the treatment team in a timely and professional manner to provide quality psychiatric care to patients throughout the health care system. Comply with best practices and other care directives. Follow performance improvement initiatives. Work with Memorial Hermann Physicians, risk managers, and case managers toward resolution of clinical, administrative, or technical problems. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to MH compliance privacy policies. Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications. Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skill competency. Serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff. Model Memorial Hermann service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues. Other duties as assigned.
