This position requires night shifts working 3x12 hour shifts.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional licensure and with minimal supervision. The therapist evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans, while explaining purposes and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients and educating them prior to discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer medications for ventilation and oxygenation.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using different methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal).
• Manage oximetry and capnography monitoring according to policy.
• Review patient chest x-rays and perform pulmonary function studies as per protocols.
• Assist with procedures related to respiratory care, such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placements.
• Provide tracheostomy care, including tube insertion and removal, and arterial punctures.
• Implement cardiopulmonary resuscitation following BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintain ventilatory equipment, perform self-tests, and handle data entry for respiratory therapy records and patient charts.
• Communicate efficiently with healthcare providers on therapy efficiency and patient response.
• Ensure accurate respiratory therapy charging and address errors as necessary.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current and valid Respiratory Therapist license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Experience in performing respiratory therapy procedures and proficiency in using respiratory equipment.
