Join Our Culinary Team at Heritage Bikes & Coffee in Chicago

Are you passionate about culinary arts and eager to be part of an enthusiastic team? Heritage Bikes & Coffee, situated in vibrant Chicago, IL, is currently seeking a dedicated prep cook to elevate our kitchen operations.

Shift Availability

We're looking to fill focused on prep and line cook duties and kitchen dish washing.

Compensation

We offer an initial hourly wage of $17-$18, complemented by tips bringing average hourly in summer to ~$25/hr. On average, our staff earn AT LEAST an additional $5 per hour in tips, making the approximate take-home rate AT LEAST $23/hour.

Key Responsibilities

Execute recipes with precision, ensuring high-quality dishes are consistently produced.
Maintain stringent hygiene standards, ensuring all equipment and workstations are clean and organized.
Perform essential kitchen duties, including sautéing, prep work, and assembly.
Manage inventory: label, stock, and conduct inventory checks while communicating any shortages to the Chef.
Efficiently transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
Operate independently in the kitchen, exhibiting robust time-management skills.
Liaise effectively with our front-of-house and barista team to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Handle peak rush periods, work through orders systematically, and clearly communicate any delays to the front-of-house staff or customers.
Operate comfortably in a semi-open kitchen environment.

Qualifications

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
ServSAFE or Basset license.
Bilingual in Español and English.
Reliable transportation to our location, which is conveniently situated near multiple public transport lines.
Minimum of one year's experience in a fast-paced, made-to-order kitchen environment.
