Medical Laboratory Scientist

Job Description

Pride Health is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to support our client’s medical facility in Grand Rapids, MI 49503.

This is a 13-week travel contract opportunity offering competitive weekly pay and consistent day shift hours.

Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)

Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Shift: Day Shift | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM EST

Hours: 40 hrs/week

Pay Rate: $2,100 - $2200/week

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform specimen handling, processing, and laboratory testing procedures accurately
• Analyze specimens using approved laboratory testing methods and SOPs
• Review, verify, and release patient test results
• Maintain testing records, QC documentation, calibrations, and maintenance logs
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety standards
• Perform quality control and ensure compliance with QA procedures
• Identify testing issues and troubleshoot or escalate concerns appropriately
• Report STAT and critical results according to department procedures
• Maintain complete and accurate laboratory records
• Ensure reagents and test kits are properly labeled and within expiration dates
• Participate in training, departmental meetings, and safety programs
• Support regulatory inspections and additional departmental duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• BS in Medical Technology preferred, or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associate degree in Laboratory Science/Medical Technology
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred or eligibility required
• Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in high-complexity testing preferred
• Strong knowledge of QC/QA procedures and laboratory operations
• Experience working with multiple computer systems and laboratory software
• Ability to multitask and prioritize efficiently in a fast-paced setting
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Commitment to patient confidentiality and laboratory compliance standards
• Experience in Core Lab rotations including Hematology, Coagulation, and Urinalysis preferred
