Service & Small Projects - Journeyman Electrician

Job Summary The Service Technician position will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems. This position must have the ability to layout and perform advanced electrical installations and troubleshooting in a service and special projects environment. The Service Technician will work independently, as a member, or as a leader of a special projects team. The role requires frequent direct customer contact, requiring exceptional customer service and relationship building skills. Minimum Qualifications Valid Colorado (or reciprocal) JW or ME license. Key Skills & Competencies Follows all safety protocols set by general contractor, owners, and Duro Electric as well as participates in morning stretches, weekly toolbox talks, and all safety stand‑downs. Proficiency in construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures in a service/special projects environment. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and use industry‑specific testing equipment. Ability to use industry‑specific installation tools and has strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code. Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control and ability to supervise one to ten employees. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and complete projects on schedule. Good oral and written skills to complete documentation, present information, and respond to questions from managers and customers. Ability to coordinate work amongst groups including internal and external customers, service, accounting, project management, etc. Fully experienced and competent individual capable of identifying deficiencies and following through on corrective action. Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills. Advanced blueprint reading and interpretation experience. Strong attendance record, promptness and reliability. Ability to follow all company procedures and protocols including the employee handbook and operations manual. Ability to work and function in a dynamic teamwork environment. Meets Duro’s minimum tool requirement and is proficient with required trade tools. Ability to coach and mentor employees and utilize corrective action as appropriate. Willingness to travel to sites within assigned territory. Intermediate computer skills with MS Office, Bluebeam and other construction‑related software. Job Responsibilities Follows and enforces all safety rules and regulations while on the job site and while operating company vehicles. Plans installations that minimize wasted materials, provide appropriate accesses, avoid unsightly or hazardous installations and meet all appropriate electrical codes. Plans and supervises craft activities including method of construction, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, and documents actual hours worked. Validates completion of all assigned job tasks and ensures craftsmanship is acceptable. Prepares sketches of proposed and/or installed materials, as necessary. Coordinates assigned work with work of different crafts, company departments, or other contractors. Maintains liaison with engineering and planning to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule. Cultivates and maintains relationships with facility and client personnel. Troubleshoots electrical systems and equipment within varying facility types and sizes. Ensures accurate work order descriptions and itemized material/labor breakdowns. Provides accurate reporting to service manager for project scheduling and manpower demands. Monitors craft compliance with project safety program requirements; documents and ensures corrective measures are implemented. Communicates regularly with customers via phone, emails, or meetings to share and receive pertinent project status information and build positive working relationships. Interacts with Service Manager and other key internal customers to ensure emails, work orders, MOPs, T&M tickets, daily job logs, staffing projections, and required safety documents are completed and submitted. Maintains liaison with vendors and inspectors to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule. Leads, trains, and provides feedback for apprentices, JWs, and Service Technicians on the same job site. Drives regularly, potentially including multiple destinations daily. Performs other duties as assigned. Other Requirements Must have and maintain a safe driving record. Current valid driver’s license required. Must complete 24 hours of CEUs every three (3) years and maintain active JW or ME license status. Preferred Qualifications Completed accredited electrical apprenticeship program. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Forklift, boom lift, and scissor lift certifications. NICET level 1 or 2. Denver Fire Alarm Installer License. NFPA 70 certification. CPR/First Aid certification. Compensation & Benefits Salary: $38–$46 per hour.
