Staff Accountant

Role Description

This is a remote position.

The hybrid staff accountant supports the President with day-to-day accounting functions including:

• Financial reporting
• Bookkeeping
• Tax preparation for individual and business clients

This role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills to ensure clients receive timely, compliant, and high-quality financial services.

Core Responsibilities

• Accounting & Financial Management:
  • Prepare, analyze, and maintain accurate financial statements, general ledgers, and reconciliations.
  • Manage bookkeeping, payroll, and tax compliance for assigned clients.
  • Conduct month-end and year-end closings, budget preparation, and cash flow management.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis and performance reporting to clients.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
• Advisory & Client Development:
  • Conduct client review meetings to identify needs, gaps, and opportunities for service expansion.
  • Offer consultative recommendations in areas such as CFO services, tax planning, and compliance optimization.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to design proposals, service packages, and upgrade opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate CRM data to track leads, opportunities, and client activity.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, fostering long-term partnerships and business growth.
• Sales & Relationship Integration:
  • Partner with the Business Development Specialist to transition qualified leads into active clients.
  • Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Support proposal presentations and client onboarding to ensure a smooth handoff.
  • Contribute to the firm’s revenue goals by achieving monthly and quarterly conversion targets.

Performance Expectations

• Accuracy: Deliver all financial statements and reports with 100% accuracy and timeliness.
• Growth: Secure 1–2 new or upgraded client service leads per month.
• Engagement: Maintain high client satisfaction and retention scores.
• Collaboration: Actively engage in firmwide sales meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 2+ years of accounting experience (public or private firm experience preferred).
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial analysis, and tax preparation.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and CRM systems.
• Excellent communication, client relationship, and consultative skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for helping clients grow.

Benefits

• Starting Salary: $50,000 to $65,000 plus competitive bonus and incentive opportunities.
• 30 to 40 hours per week.
