Senior Mechanical Project Manager

Location: Phoenix, AZ
Compensation: $130,000 - $160,000+ (Experience Dependent)

About the Opportunity

A leading mechanical contracting organization is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, financial performance, and successful delivery of large-scale mechanical construction projects.

This senior-level role is ideal for an accomplished mechanical construction professional with a proven track record managing high-value, technically complex projects from preconstruction through commissioning and closeout. The Senior Project Manager will maintain overall responsibility for project financial performance, scheduling, procurement, labor planning, contractual compliance, client relationships, safety, quality, and risk management while providing leadership to project and field teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead large-scale mechanical projects from preconstruction planning through execution, commissioning, and final closeout.
• Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, schedules, cash flow, billing, collections, and profitability.
• Maintain accountability for overall project financial performance and successful execution.
• Review project scope, contracts, plans, specifications, schedules, and project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage contracts, subcontracts, procurement activities, purchase orders, change orders, and claims.
• Oversee RFIs, submittals, schedules of values, permits, project documentation, and progress billings.
• Coordinate labor planning with field leadership to ensure proper staffing across all project phases.
• Manage material procurement, equipment requirements, subcontractor performance, and scheduling activities.
• Monitor project costs and productivity, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
• Prepare and present accurate project forecasts and financial projections.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, consultants, vendors, and key stakeholders.
• Lead project meetings and communicate project status, financial performance, schedule impacts, and critical decisions.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and field personnel.
• Promote collaboration between project management and field operations teams.
• Maintain accurate and timely project documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 8+ years of mechanical project management experience with increasing responsibility and leadership.
• Proven success managing large-scale, high-value, and technically complex mechanical construction projects .
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong understanding of commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related mechanical systems.
• Expertise in project controls, budgeting, forecasting, procurement, contracts, scheduling, billing, and change management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage project profitability and financial performance.
• Experience leading project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
• Working knowledge of HVAC/ASHRAE standards, plumbing codes, and applicable building codes.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, stakeholder expectations, and project risks.
