About the Position

Job Title: MRI Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technology Specialty: N/A Duration: 9 months Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday Hours per Shift: 11 hours Experience: Two years preferred in MRI License: Client License (L.R.T.) Certifications: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT Certified) Must-Have: - Strong background in cross-sectional anatomy, physical sciences, and MRI physics - Excellent technical skills - Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology Description: This position operates and prepares specialized equipment to perform magnetic imaging procedures. Applies the necessary technical judgment to obtain studies of acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and patient needs. Performs MRI imaging procedures. Positions patients and associated coils to obtain optimum study. Provides patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures by informing patients about the nature of the procedure, the area to be imaged, and any specific instructions they may need. Reviews all patient safety questionnaires prior to introducing any patients into the MRI scan room. Ensures all MRI images are appropriately labeled as specified by the department's standard operating procedures. Evaluates images for technical acceptability and ensures images are transmitted to the picture archiving and communication system in a timely manner. Ensures all studies performed are completed in the radiology information system in a timely manner. Maintains cleanliness of the radiology room and equipment at the start and end of the shift, including the removal of soiled or dirty linen. Scans patient-related documents. Maintains supplies and accessories in the radiographic room necessary to safely perform duties. Records all required patient tracking information into the radiology information system accurately. Schedules exams in the radiology information system as required. Informs supervisors or appropriate personnel of needed repairs to equipment or unsafe conditions. Assists physicians directly as required. Calls for in-patients as needed. Performs related clerical duties in the absence of support personnel. Maintains safety standards by adhering to safety guidelines to prevent the introduction of ferromagnetic material into the scan room. Protects self, patients, and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols. Attends in-services and other professional development meetings as required. Maintains licensure specific to the job, including adherence to the Public Health Code. Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
