Senior Software Engineer, Hyperscale Build Infrastructure

Salary: $217,000 - 326,000 per year Requirements:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including infrastructure, developer productivity, build systems, or platform engineering.
• Strong understanding of modern build systems and toolchains, including dependency management, build-graph correctness, incremental and reproducible builds, artifact generation, and build isolation.
• Hands-on experience with build systems and toolchains such as Make, CMake, Buck/Bazel, or custom build orchestration tools.
• Experience with large-scale C/C++ builds, including dependency pruning, static and dynamic linking tradeoffs, and reproducible containerized builds.
• Familiarity with Linux-based development environments, Docker, and maintaining consistent build images and execution environments.
• Experience with CI pipelines and integrating build tooling into continuous integration workflows.
• Experience using engineering metrics to assess and improve build performance, reliability, and developer experience.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across adjacent platform teams.

• Design, develop, and maintain build orchestration systems and tools.
• Improve build speed, reliability, reproducibility, debuggability, and usability across local development and CI workflows.
• Own and evolve containerized build environments to provide consistent, isolated, and reproducible build images.
• Address large-scale C/C++ build challenges, including dependency pruning and static or dynamic linking tradeoffs.
• Diagnose and resolve build-graph correctness issues, flaky builds, and incremental-build regressions.
• Partner with technical leads and the engineering manager to shape the technical roadmap for build systems and developer tooling.
• Collaborate across the Hyperscale Line of Business and wider engineering organization to identify pain points, prioritize fixes, and align tooling investments with product delivery needs.
• Establish and uphold operational practices for build infrastructure, including observability, incident response, change management, and continuous improvement.
• Use engineering metrics to improve build performance, reliability, and developer experience.
• Mentor engineers and foster ownership, collaboration, and high technical standards.
• Work from our Santa Clara office in accordance with company policies, except during paid time off, work travel, or other approved leave.
