Position Summary The Educational Diagnostician will be a leader in identifying and recognizing the needs of exceptional learners by administering and interpreting assessments pertaining to the specific student needs. The evaluator will be responsible for writing assessment reports and providing recommendations to staff and parents. The evaluator may consult with campuses and families to develop educational plans and supports. Education and Certifications Master’s degree Valid Texas teaching certificate Valid Texas Educational Diagnostician Certificate Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, education of special education students Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Superior written and oral communication skills Ability to work on multiple projects Ability to make sound decisions within the parameters of authority Proficiency with technology applications (i.e., Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Frontline) Responsibilities and Duties Evaluation Receive student referrals and review for Response to Intervention (RTI) fidelity Select and administer formal and informal evaluations to determine student eligibility for special education services according to federal and state regulations Conduct classroom observations Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to interpret evaluation data and make recommendations for appropriate placement and development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) Consultation Provide staff development training as requested to assist school personnel in identification of students with disabilities as well as understanding of specific disabilities Assist classroom teachers with implementation of IEP Consult with parents concerning the educational needs of students and interpretation of evaluation data Assist in the selection of evaluation materials and equipment Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the evaluation program and make recommendations based on findings Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required Observe all retention regulations Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the areas of evaluation, placement, and planning for special education services Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment Communication Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents Equipment Used All equipment required to perform job duties and tasks previously described.
