Dentist Position

Matrix Providers is hiring a Dentist to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families at Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center, EPES Dental Facilities.

Employment Status: Full Time, 1099 Contract

Compensation: This is a salaried position, paid bi-weekly

Schedule: A standard 40 hour work week - Any hours worked in excess of eight hours in a day will be compensated for by corresponding fewer hours on a different day in the same work week. Hours of Operation are 0715-1500.

Contract dentists shall provide on-call services as scheduled by the MTF/DTF. On-call services will be provided during the time periods that routine dental care is not available. On-call dental care will be limited to providing relief of pain, management of trauma, acute swelling, infection, and control of bleeding. The contract dentist will be on-call and must be readily available by telephone for consultation and, when deemed necessary, the on-call dentist will be required to report to the MTF/DTF within 60 minutes after receipt of a call from the Dental Charge-of-Quarters (CQ) or hospital emergency room.

Requirements: The Dentist must have and meet the following:

• Degree/Education: Must possess a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. Must be a graduate of an accredited dental school approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA) or an accepted equivalent program.
• Specialty Dentist Requirements (If Applicable): In addition to the base degree, a Specialty Dentist must be a graduate of a dental specialty training program accredited by the CODA of the ADA (or an accepted equivalent program) and possess a certificate of training in their respective specialty area.
• Experience: Providers must meet all clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions, and meet the following minimums:
• Must have been employed on a full-time basis in the practice of dentistry for a minimum of one (1) year; OR
• Must have graduated from an accredited, post-graduate dentistry training program within the preceding eighteen (18) months.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support
• Board Certification: Contractors shall be Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Dentistry
• Licensure: Candidates must have a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a dentist in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. This license must be maintained in an active and unrestricted status throughout the life of the task order.

Job Summary:

• The General Dentist shall perform a full range of professional dental services commensurate with their granted clinical privileges and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the assigned Military Treatment Facility (DTF) and the standards of The Joint Commission (TJC). Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Dental practice, management of patients, and dental prescriptions will be accomplished in accordance with applicable DHA or DTF clinical practice guidelines and TJC standards and instructions set forth in the facility where privileges are awarded.
• Examines patients, interprets radiographs and diagnostic tests, and diagnoses and treats diseases, abnormalities, injuries, and dysfunctional disorders of the oral cavity.
• Evaluates findings and prescribes type, extent, and order of treatment. Refers nondental problems to appropriate medical specialty. Restores health and function of carious, fractured, otherwise defective teeth.
• Performs routine preventive, periodontal, oral surgery, endodontic, and prosthodontic treatment.
• Provides consultation services.
• Performs comprehensive dental functions. Performs complex dental treatment procedures in the absence of specialist.
• May serve as preceptor for general dentistry residency programs.
