PRN Community Health Education Instructor – Childbirth & Family Education Job Summary Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a compassionate, engaging, and knowledgeable PRN Community Health Education Instructor to provide evidence-based education and support for expectant parents, new families, and community members. This role delivers both virtual and in-person classes focused on pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, newborn care, and related topics while promoting healthy outcomes and enhancing the patient experience. Working closely with the Program Coordinator, this instructor helps plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate educational programs that meet the evolving needs of patients, families, caregivers, and the communities we serve. Schedule PRN (As Needed) Approximately 8–20 hours per pay period , depending on class schedules and program needs. Availability for weekend classes and weekday evening classes (mid-to-late evening) is required. Flexibility to travel and float to other Baylor Scott & White facilities is preferred. Essential Functions Plan, coordinate, and deliver engaging educational classes and support groups for expectant parents, new families, and community members in both classroom and virtual settings. Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to develop, implement, and continuously improve educational programming. Assess community and patient education needs using available data, feedback, and current healthcare trends. Create an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive learning environment that encourages participant engagement and confidence. Utilize adult learning principles and evidence-based teaching strategies to educate diverse audiences. Support nursing staff and community education initiatives through presentations, educational events, in-services, and other learning opportunities as assigned. Coordinate educational materials, class resources, demonstrations, and teaching aids to enhance the learning experience. Promote Baylor Scott & White Health's mission by building positive relationships with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and community partners. Maintain accurate class documentation and support ongoing program evaluation and quality improvement efforts. Key Success Factors Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Passion for educating and supporting expectant and new families. Excellent organization and time management skills. Ability to effectively facilitate both virtual and in-person learning experiences. Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word and PowerPoint) and virtual meeting platforms including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Webex. Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning styles and educational needs. Strong collaboration skills and ability to work independently in a PRN environment. Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree or four (4) years of relevant experience beyond the minimum qualifications. Experience Minimum of two (2) years of experience in patient education, maternal health, labor and delivery, postpartum, women's services, or a related healthcare field. Preferred Qualifications One or more of the following is preferred: Certified Childbirth Educator (CCCE or LCCE) International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) Certified Breastfeeding Counselor Certification in Education Registered Nurse (RN) Basic Life Support (BLS) Preferred Experience Labor & Delivery Mother/Baby or Postpartum Women's Services Prenatal and postpartum education Breastfeeding education and support Community or patient education
