Registered Nurse (RN) in Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Active nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - 2 years of experience in an ICU setting - Strictly enforced 75-mile radius rule - Ability to monitor and read telemetry - Competency in critical care nursing Description: The ICU unit has a capacity of 10 beds. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 to 2. Patients may include those with conditions such as pneumonia, congestive heart failure, and sepsis. The unit typically operates with a low volume of patients, usually fewer than 5. There are no interventional catheterization procedures performed on-site. The level of acuity is more aligned with a stepdown unit. Surgical pediatrics cases, such as pediatric cholecystectomies, are occasionally admitted. Charge nurses will take patients. Nurse aides are not present on the unit. The unit is equipped with Phillips telemetry units. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. There is an IV team available Monday through Friday for difficult venous access cases. Pharmacy support is provided during the day and until midnight for emergency needs. Floating to other units is not required but may be permitted if qualified. Scrub colors include hunter green pants and white tops or jackets. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Holidays will be rotated with permanent staff.
