Lead - Battery Energy Storage Systems

We are currently looking for a Lead - Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to drive storage growth across North America. If you have extensive technical knowledge in utility-scale standalone and hybrid assets, and enjoy a hands‑doer approach, we want to hear from you! Your role will involve: Developing and owning the regional BESS strategy, serving as Owner's Engineer, Independent Engineer, and conducting technical due diligence during development and financing stages. Leading programs for feasibility studies, techno‑economic assessments, and optimization of microgrids/hybrids that incorporate battery systems. Building strong client relationships with developers, utilities, Independent System Operators (ISOs), Integrated Power Producers (IPPs), and financiers. Mentoring a cross-regional team, implementing standardized tools and leveraging GHD Global Collaboration Centres for design scaling. What you bring to the table: 10-15 years of experience in power systems or energy infrastructure, with a focus on utility-scale BESS or hybrid renewable energy + storage projects for at least 5 years. Proven track record in Owner's/Independent Engineer roles, interconnection studies, and EMS/SCADA integration. Familiarity with BESS safety and fire protection standards, specifically NFPA 855. Experience developing pipelines and capturing performance in high-growth storage markets. Your qualifications include: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science (Electrical preferred) with P.Eng./PE certification or eligibility, along with knowledge of grid codes and interconnection standards. Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams across different regions, with excellent communication and client management skills. We expect you to: Deliver high-quality advisory and engineering outputs throughout the BESS lifecycle, focusing on safety, quality, and risk management. Be willing to travel regionally to priority cities, client hubs, and project sites, while actively mentoring your team and enhancing market reputation.
