The Opportunity
We collaborate with manufacturing companies in the Plainwell region seeking CNC Mill Programmers. These employers partner with us because they want real insight into candidatesnot just resumes. By joining our network, you gain access to roles worth considering.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and implement CNC programs for 3-axis and 5-axis mills.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding methods.
- Simulate machining processes to detect and avoid collisions or inefficiencies.
- Optimize tool paths and cutting parameters for cycle time reduction and surface finish improvement.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and machinists to troubleshoot and refine programs.
- Create and maintain detailed setup sheets and tooling lists for production.
- Perform post-processing of CAM generated tool paths for specific machine controls.
- Assist in the evaluation and selection of new tooling and machining technologies.
Recommended Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience programming CNC mills
- Proficiency in G-code and M-code programming
- Expertise with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks)
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T
- Ability to select appropriate tooling and cutting parameters
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with 5-axis programming
- Proficiency in a second CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM)
- Ability to design fixtures and tooling
- Familiarity with robotics or automation systems
- Experience with post-processor development or customization
