Equipment Operator

Xylem Tree Care is hiring an Equipment Operator across Hampton Roads, VA for our Residential/Commercial Crew. The Equipment Operator effectively and safely operates heavy equipment of various types to remove branches and tree material from electrical lines. CDL is preferred but not required.

Essential Functions:

• Always follow and help enforce safe practices and rules.
• Operate equipment, in a safe, efficient, and effective manner while minimizing all risks to job site personnel, the public, and property.
• Assist in preparing equipment and materials for each day's work at the Foreperson's direction.
• Check equipment daily for needed fuel or fluids and inspect for safety before use.
• Assist other crew members in all aspects of daily activities and take a leadership role when required.
• Assist with the clean up and disposal of all debris.
• Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc. to protect employees and the public.
• Keep informed on new equipment, specifications, standard practices, operating procedures, and customer and company employee relations policies and practices.
• Maintain above-standard customer relations.
• Accident Reporting

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or ability to attain one within 90 days of hire. We offer CDL training and assistance.
• Experience operating heavy equipment within the tree care industry, utility line clearance, and/or vegetation management industry.
• Knowledge of basic mechanical repair is a plus.
• Must possess and maintain a Valid driver's license.

Work Authorization Requirements:

Must meet I-9 requirements.

Travel Required:

Yes. Travel out of town is required for storm restoration work when needed.
