Microsoft 365 Test Lead

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 Test Lead to oversee integrated testing, release validation, and test environment management across the Microsoft 365 collaboration ecosystem. This role is responsible for coordinating end-to-end testing activities for platform changes impacting Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Exchange Online, Microsoft Copilot, Entra ID, Purview, and related services.

The successful candidate will serve as a central coordination point between engineering teams, technology owners, release management, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure platform changes are thoroughly tested, documented, and validated before production deployment. This role requires strong technical understanding, testing discipline, organizational skills, and the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration in a complex enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Microsoft 365 Integrated Testing Leadership

• Lead testing efforts for Microsoft 365 platform changes managed through integrated release management processes.

• Define, coordinate, execute, and report on end-to-end testing activities across multiple Microsoft 365 services.

• Review engineering requirements, release documentation, and test plans to determine testing scope and impact.

• Coordinate testing activities across various technical teams and service owners.

• Identify testing gaps, risks, and dependencies and proactively drive issue resolution.

• Escalate critical issues and provide timely status updates to stakeholders.

Test Management & Execution

• Create, maintain, and execute test plans, test cases, and regression test suites.

• Manage testing activities using Octane and other testing tools.

• Upload testing evidence, test results, and supporting documentation.

• Validate platform functionality, integrations, compliance controls, and user experiences.

• Lead daily and scheduled regression testing activities.

• Ensure test scripts remain current with platform changes and new feature releases.

• Work closely with engineering teams to socialize test findings, spikes, defects, and emerging risks.

Microsoft 365 Platform Knowledge

• Maintain working knowledge of Microsoft 365 technologies including:

• Microsoft Teams

• Microsoft Copilot

• SharePoint Online

• OneDrive for Business

• Exchange Online

• Microsoft Entra ID

• Microsoft Purview

• Vantage (Retention and Governance)

• Microsoft 365 security and compliance capabilities

• Understand how these technologies integrate and interact within the enterprise ecosystem.

Test Environment & Lab Management

• Support and maintain Microsoft 365 testing environments.

• Manage lab refresh activities and environment readiness.

• Coordinate provisioning and maintenance of:

• Test accounts

• Test tenants

• Compute endpoints

• Browser configurations

• Network configurations

• Lower-lane and production-like environments

• Identify opportunities to improve and modernize testing infrastructure.

Compliance & Control Validation

• Support validation of compliance, governance, and control requirements.

• Maintain testing coverage for controls and regulatory requirements.

• Ensure test scenarios reflect current business, security, and compliance needs.

• Maintain awareness of services supporting:

• Data Loss Prevention (DLP)

• Information Barriers / Ethical Walls

• Retention and Records Management

• Regulatory controls

Continuous Improvement

• Drive initiatives that improve testing efficiency, coverage, automation readiness, and operational effectiveness.

• Evaluate the impact of technology changes such as:

• Endpoint platform changes

• Operating system changes

• Web browser updates

• Network infrastructure changes

• Recommend enhancements to testing processes, tooling, and reporting.

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Partner with Microsoft 365 service owners, engineering teams, release managers, infrastructure teams, and support organizations.

• Coordinate cross-team testing activities.

• Facilitate discussions related to environment readiness, test execution, issue resolution, and deployment validation.

• Maintain strong relationships across technical and operational teams.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software testing, platform validation, quality assurance, or release management.

• Experience supporting Microsoft 365 collaboration technologies in an enterprise environment.

• Experience coordinating large-scale integrated testing efforts.

• Hands-on experience with test management tools such as Micro Focus ALM/Octane, Jira, or similar platforms.

• Strong understanding of testing methodologies, defect management, and release validation processes.

• Experience managing testing environments and lab infrastructure.

• Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and operate independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting financial services or highly regulated industries.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Teams administration and collaboration platform operations.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Purview compliance capabilities.

• Experience with Microsoft Copilot testing and validation.

• Understanding of identity and access management concepts within Microsoft Entra ID.

• Knowledge of Agile, DevOps, and enterprise release management practices.

• Experience with automation testing frameworks and test optimization initiatives.
