Registered Nurse- Antepartum-FT-Night Shift

Job Overview Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse for our Antepartum unit for a full‑time night shift position within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. As a Registered Nurse in the Antepartum unit, you will provide specialized, high‑quality nursing care to high‑risk obstetric patients requiring inpatient monitoring and treatment before delivery. Working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for pregnant patients experiencing complications such as preterm labor, hypertension, diabetes, multiple gestation, or other maternal‑fetal conditions. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will perform comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments, including vital signs, fetal heart rate monitoring, and recognition of early signs of deterioration, escalating concerns promptly to providers. You will administer medications and IV therapies safely, provide pre‑ and post‑procedure care, and coordinate diagnostic tests and consultations. You will educate patients and families about their condition, treatment plans, medications, and signs and symptoms that require immediate attention, using clear and compassionate communication to promote understanding and reduce anxiety. You will collaborate closely with obstetricians, maternal‑fetal medicine specialists, anesthesiologists, neonatology teams, and other allied health professionals to ensure seamless, patient‑centered care. As part of Mission Health’s culture of teamwork, respect, and professional growth, you will actively participate in interdisciplinary rounds, contribute to care planning, and support colleagues through effective communication and shared decision‑making. You will follow evidence‑based protocols, infection prevention standards, and medication safety practices, and document all care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record. The Antepartum RN will also play a key role in preparing patients and families for potential preterm delivery or transition to labor and delivery, coordinating transfers when indicated and ensuring continuity of care. You will support patients through emotional and psychosocial challenges associated with high‑risk pregnancies, connecting them with appropriate support resources and demonstrating empathy, cultural sensitivity, and respect for diverse backgrounds and family structures. Night shift responsibilities include managing changing patient acuity, triaging new admissions, responding to emergencies, and maintaining a calm, organized environment.
