Part-Time Evening Custodian

Overview The City of Biddeford, a coastal Maine community, is seeking dynamic people to join our award-winning team of professionals. The Part-Time Evening Custodian operates under the Facilities Division and assists the custodial crew with daily cleaning, maintenance, and security of the Community Center. Responsibilities Cleaning restrooms Vacuuming, sweeping, and cleaning floors Washing windows, doing laundry, moving furniture, setting up rooms for programs Building security (unlocking and locking facility) Snow and ice removal (as needed) Seasonal lawncare and light gardening Perform semi-skilled maintenance repairs such as painting and minor fixes Consistently arrives to work on time Takes responsibility for own actions and listens well to others Treats everyone with respect and consideration Interacts positively and politely with the general public Maintains professional standards for ethics, policies, and procedures Maintain a safe, organized space Other duties may be assigned Required Qualifications Age 18 or older Ability to work well with others and independently, with little supervision Able to communicate effectively in the English language (internally and with the public) Experience in cleaning and/or building maintenance preferred Basic understanding of cleaning equipment and practices Ability to move and operate cleaning equipment Flexible and a team player A willingness to demonstrate a commitment to the City of Biddeford's work around diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion Equal Opportunity Employer The City of Biddeford’s mission is to cultivate and sustain a diverse, inclusive, equitable, welcoming, and belonging-based workplace where employees actively practice solidarity for the greater good of the work environment and employee experience. Job Type: Part-time, non-seasonal Salary: $17 - $18 per hour Schedule: 10 - 29 hours per week, Monday- Friday weeknights; 5:00pm-10:00pm is the typical schedule.
