Sr. Scientist, Mass Spectrometry & Biologics Characterization

Senior Scientist position supporting biologics characterization and analytical development through mass spectrometry expertise. Responsibilities include designing and executing assays for large molecule characterization, method development, and data analysis to inform early-stage drug development decisions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced mass spectrometry methods across modalities from preclinical through early development stages
• Design and execute large molecule analytical assays including intact mass analysis, glycan profiling, peptide mapping, and PTM characterization
• Perform sample preparation, LC-MS data acquisition and analysis, and documentation of experiments in ELN
• Support lead optimization through high-throughput intact mass analysis for cell-line selection and molecular identity confirmation
• Present research findings to cross-functional teams and provide process improvement recommendations

Requirements

• BS in chemistry or related field with 12+ years pharmaceutical industry experience in separation methods, OR MS with 10+ years, OR PhD with 4+ years
• Expert knowledge of protein analytical methods including MS-based identification and quantitation approaches
• Advanced proficiency with native MS, top-down MS, intact/subunit MS, glycan profiling, and bottom-up MS
• Hands-on experience with reversed-phase HPLC, analytical SEC, and CE-SDS for large molecule separation
• Hands-on experience operating high-resolution TOF or Orbitrap mass analyzers with maintenance and troubleshooting capability
• Working knowledge of protein chemistry, PTMs, structure, and protein-protein interactions
• Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to work independently and collaboratively
