What You Can Expect as a Machine Shop Technician As a machinist you will run and monitor computer‑numeric‑controlled machines used to make metal tools and parts. You will ensure machines operate correctly, cut parts to perfection, maintain machines, and replace worn parts. You will perform machining on a wide variety of parts and materials, ensuring tolerances per job order. Key Responsibilities Reviews job/production orders and interprets accompanying prints and drawings to determine job requirements. Checks for accuracy of information and identifies any discrepancies or special needs. Selects and/or verifies materials, processes and equipment required to perform assigned jobs. Sets up machines to perform required operations. Prepares and cleans product surfaces as necessary. Operates machines to fabricate various components and structures. Monitors machine performance and output during production to ensure proper results. Cleans and maintains work area daily, fabricating equipment and tools. Ensures quality and safety procedures are observed at all times. Communicates effectively in English (speak, write, read). What You’ll Need Education A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Driver’s License / Passport A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory. Experience 4+ years of experience in a machine shop or part 145 repair station is highly preferred. Proficient in reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments. Skills & Initiative We’re looking for a team player who is self‑motivated and can perform in a fast‑paced environment with deadlines and time constraints. Sense of Responsibility Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments. Notify supervisor in advance if unable to work. Must have reliable transportation to get to work each day. Must perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines. Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties. Maintain customer‑oriented work habits and complete work orders and FAA paperwork. Physical Requirements Lift at least 50 lbs. Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting. Routing or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands. Mental Requirements Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
