Join us and help drive the future of technology forward.The OpportunityThe Director, Product Management – Composite AI serves as a senior Product Manager responsible for advancing the strategy, operating model, and portfolio execution of MetLife's Composite AI capabilities. This role sits at the intersection of AI strategy, product practice maturity, governance enablement, and cross-capability coordination — ensuring that AI products are managed consistently, deliver measurable business outcomes, and scale through a federated operating model.This role partners closely with Composite AI platform teams, Architecture, CIO organizations, Data & Analytics, and Lines of Business to translate enterprise AI priorities into coordinated product strategies, well-defined capability roadmaps, and adoption-ready enabling assets. The role is accountable for product outcomes and PM practice quality across assigned capability domains, not just delivery execution.Key ResponsibilitiesPortfolio Strategy & Capability VisionOwn product strategy across assigned Composite AI capability domains, aligning capability roadmaps with Global Technology priorities and Responsible AI principles.Define and evolve outcome-oriented roadmaps that balance enterprise demand, architectural guardrails, and long-term platform sustainability.Articulate the value proposition of the Composite AI portfolio, including developer and business user experience, time to value, and enterprise risk reduction.Technical Product LeadershipTranslate customer, partner, and business needs into clear technical problem statements, platform capabilities, and product requirements.Partner with Architecture and Engineering leadership to evaluate design options, technical tradeoffs, and architectural decisions, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and extensible.Incorporate non-functional requirements (performance, resiliency, security, cost efficiency, observability) as first-class product concerns.Guide decisions on build vs. buy, reuse vs. customize, and platform standardization.Maintain technical fluency across the Composite AI capability stack to effectively challenge assumptions, evaluate feasibility, and guide product decisions across workstreams.Roadmap Coordination & Delivery AlignmentSupport the unified Composite AI product roadmap, ensuring transparency and alignment of priorities, dependencies, and sequencing across capability workstreams and delivery teams.Translate roadmap objectives into well-formed epics and outcomes-oriented backlog items in close partnership with involved platform, engineering, and enablement teams.Lead prioritization and tradeoff discussions within assigned domains to maximize enterprise value while protecting platform and capability health.Coordinate across capability leads and delivery teams to ensure alignment between strategic intent and execution, without assuming technical delivery ownership.AI Product Operating Model & EnablementSupport the design and operationalization of a consistent AI product operating model across Composite AI capabilities, including intake standards, readiness criteria, and lifecycle governance.Define and maintain enabling assets — product templates, playbooks, onboarding patterns — that allow capability teams to operate with discipline and consistency.Partner with CoE, enablement, and platform teams to scale product management practices across regions and lines of business.Drive federated product model maturity by embedding PM discipline at the capability and workstream level, not just at the portfolio level.Governance & Responsible AI EnablementPartner with governance, risk, legal, and compliance teams to ensure Composite AI capabilities enable compliance by design, not as an afterthought.Ensure product capabilities support enterprise governance workflows while minimizing friction for delivery teams.Embed Responsible AI principles into platform features, processes, and lifecycle decisions.Cross-Functional Alignment & Stakeholder EngagementServe as a key product interface across assigned workstreams, spanning Architecture, Platform Engineering, Data & Analytics, CIO teams, and business leaders.Synthesize technical, business, and risk considerations into clear narratives and recommendations for senior leadership.Drive alignment on investments, sequencing, and success metrics.Adoption, Metrics & Continuous ImprovementDefine and track product and platform success metrics, including adoption, reliability, performance, cost efficiency, and developer experience.Establish structured feedback loops to continuously refine platform capabilities and onboarding models.Support portfolio-level reporting and product health transparency, enabling leadership visibility into progress, adoption, and risk across capability domains.Support operational readiness, including support models and lifecycle management, in partnership with involved platform, engineering, and enablement teams.Required Qualifications10+ years of experience leading enterprise-scale technology or platform products in large, matrixed organizations.Demonstrated success as a Product Manager for technically complex products (platforms, data, AI, cloud, integration, or developer-facing products).Proven ability to balance business value, technical feasibility, and long-term platform health.Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to translate complexity into clarity.Experience supporting or building a product management function, practice, or operating model in a large organization.Familiarity with Agile and product-oriented delivery models in enterprise environments.Preferred QualificationsStrong technical fluency: able to reason about system design, APIs, data flows, and architectural tradeoffs (coding not required).Expert-level user of personal and team AI productivity toolsExperience working within governance, compliance, and risk-sensitive environments.3+ years of experience with AI platforms.Familiarity with federated or matrixed operating models and distributed team coordination.#LI-WRAPJOBLocation Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.The expected salary range for this position is$140,0000 - $185,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
