Medical Assistant II, Family Medicine

Provide clinical and clerical support to providers and patient care teams Perform back-office and patient-related tasks supporting high-quality patient care Help ensure smooth patient and workflow within the department Assist the patient care team in implementing the medical plan of care Apply education, technical competence, and patient interaction skills to gain patient and family cooperation Perform all duties under the direction of a clinician Travel as needed between Fairfield, Benicia, Vacaville, and Vallejo locations Requirements High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) Completion of a course of study consistent with California Medical Board requirements for Medical Assistants, with diploma presented within 90 days OR completion of Sutter Health on-the-job training in medical assisting equivalent to one year BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification 1 year of recent relevant experience General knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology Competence and validation in basic Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and administering injections Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based data and instructions Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences Time management and organizational skills, including prioritization and meeting deadlines within standardized operating procedures General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and electronic health records (EHR) Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple tasks amid interruptions, and resolve standard problems using established options Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and healthcare providers Ability to travel as needed between Fairfield, Benicia, Vacaville, and Vallejo locations Core Competencies Demonstrates proficiency in Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs and preparing patients for exams, while effectively communicating with diverse audiences.
