Role Overview

Join our Claremont fiber operation as a Process Control Technologist focused on stabilizing processes, eliminating recurring equipment issues, and ensuring product quality. You will report to the Claremont Facilities and Reliability Manager and collaborate daily with engineering, maintenance, and operations across the plant.

Schedule: Flex-40, Monday–Friday

A Day in the Life

You start by reviewing overnight process data and Key Process Indicators, spotting trends and subtle process drifts. Mid-morning is hands-on: you’re troubleshooting a control circuit, guiding a repair, and documenting a corrective action. In the afternoon, you’re coaching shift TSAs and PCLs, updating preventive maintenance procedures, and supporting an equipment upgrade—all while keeping safety and quality front and center.

What You’ll Tackle

• Accurately log and report personal work activities on a daily (or more frequent) basis.
• Learn the plant’s fiber manufacturing processes, equipment, philosophies, procedures, and practices.
• Serve as the primary technical support for assigned process areas, assisting other areas as directed.
• Partner closely with engineering to resolve day-to-day and recurring production or equipment issues.
• Track daily/weekly KPIs to identify trends, influences, and repeating patterns within your area.
• Conduct root-cause analysis on trends, repeat equipment failures, and process drift.
• Support equipment upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvements.
• Perform or remotely direct emergency repairs, including occasional nights/weekends; provide off-hours support as needed.
• Act as Subject Matter Expert for your process area(s); train, mentor, and provide feedback to shift TSAs, PCLs, and others.
• Create and refine procedures for preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Assist maintenance and engineering during plant shutdowns and startups.
• Ensure products comply with requirements defined by the Plant’s Quality Management Systems.
• Follow all safety procedures and ISO 14001/ISO 45001 EMS guidelines.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping in offices, on the floor, and in maintenance support areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Plus one of the following (or equivalent, as determined by the maintenance manager):
  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, or Mechanical Technology; or
  • Military service (minimum 2 years) with training in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Technology; or
  • On-the-job training (minimum 3 years) in industrial maintenance—electrical, electronics, or mechanical.
• Hands-on capability with low- to mid-voltage electrical work; troubleshoot/repair logic and control circuits; perform installations, repairs, and testing on production equipment.
• Ability to perform light through heavy mechanical tasks.
• Comfort with hand tools, power tools, multimeters (volt/ohm/amp), oscilloscopes, and related electrical diagnostics.
• Strong mechanical/electrical/electronic aptitude with minimal-supervision effectiveness.
• Clear communicator; analytical technical problem-solver; detail- and quality-focused; motivated team contributor.
• Proficiency with email, Microsoft Word, and Excel; SAP experience preferred.
• Fiber manufacturing experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Lift, bend, and stoop as needed; stand for extended periods.
• Work at a laptop or PC workstation for sustained durations.
• Periodic standing, sitting, walking, and phone communication.
• In PCVD, OVD, and Etch areas, ability to work with chemicals including Germanium Tetrachloride, Silica Tetrachloride, Chlorine, Hydrofluoric Acid, etc.

Work Environment

• Operate under varying conditions (dust, oil, grease, heat/humidity, fumes, noise, etc.).
• Use required PPE in manufacturing areas (safety footwear, safety glasses, and hearing protection, as required).
