Our Story
Crossroads Animal Hospital, privately owned by Dr. Erin Davis and nestled in the heart of Zion Crossroads, VA, has been proudly serving our community since May 2010. We're a comprehensive animal hospital, offering a wide array of services including dental cleanings, digital radiography, ultrasound, in-house bloodwork, surgical services, routine and preventative care, microchipping, and more!

The Position
An Associate Veterinarian at Crossroads is expected to support high-quality patient care by providing clear direction to the healthcare team in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. They should independently manage routine responsibilities while referring significant deviations, problems, or unfamiliar situations to the owner-doctor or practice manager for guidance.
Hours: Full-time, 4 days a week, 10-hour days
Education and Licenses:
Valid and in good standing licensed veterinarian with the state of Virginia.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Medical
- Possess the knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose and treat sick or injured animals through medication, wound care, surgery, and other appropriate treatments.
- Provide a broad range of clinical and patient care services while maintaining professional, ethical, and compassionate standards.
- Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases and injuries. • Administer vaccinations and preventive care. • Collect and analyze blood, urine, feces, tissue, and other samples.
- Perform and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Operate and interpret diagnostic imaging, including radiographs and ultrasound.
- Administer anesthesia, perform surgery, and oversee patient monitoring and recovery with the technical team.
- Perform humane euthanasia with owner consent.
Clerical
- Document actions through forms, reports, logs and patient records.
Customer Service
- Answer client questions and provide education on pet health, treatment, preventive care, nutrition, and general wellness.
- Educate clients on relevant zoonotic diseases and health precautions.
- Follow up with clients and recommend recheck or progress visits as appropriate.
Veterinary Polices/Procedures
- Provide discharge instructions and follow-up care for hospitalized and surgical patients.
- Participate in business development as directed.
- Attend team meetings and required training.
Personnel
- Train and supervise team members as needed.
- Interact with clients and staff professionally and respectfully.
- Provide leadership that supports excellent patient care and client service.

- Possess the physical ability and motor skills necessary to safely examine, restrain, diagnose, and treat patients.
- Demonstrate sound clinical judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.

- Possess appropriate knowledge of veterinary medicine, dentistry, diagnostics, medications, equipment, and procedures.
- Understand and follow applicable regulations, safety standards, and hospital procedures.
- Communicate effectively through accurate medical records, reports, and client/team interactions.
- Demonstrate strong client service, organization, time management, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
- Maintain knowledge of veterinary terminology and proper medical recordkeeping.
- Practice high-quality medicine in accordance with veterinary ethics and Crossroads Animal Hospital's mission.
