Senior Software Engineer

New York City | $400,000 to $500,000 total compensation We are working with an exciting new exchange joint venture backed by leading financial institutions, building out a world-class engineering team in New York. This is a senior role for a low-latency C++ engineer who enjoys working close to the metal, optimising performance-critical systems and solving problems where microseconds, memory behaviour and network efficiency genuinely matter. The team is looking for someone with deep experience in modern C++, high-performance systems and trading infrastructure. You will be working on critical applications across the exchange technology stack, with a focus on refactoring, performance optimisation, network utilisation and low-latency design. What you will be doing Refactoring and optimising performance-sensitive C++ applications Improving latency, throughput and network utilisation across core systems Designing internal APIs and protocols for high-performance integration Working on multi-threaded systems, lock-free queues and memory optimisation Analysing performance across CPU, cache, network and application layers Supporting production systems and resolving issues in real time Collaborating with a high-calibre engineering team on low-latency architecture Mentoring junior engineers and helping raise technical standards across the group What we are looking for 10+ years of experience building low-latency applications in modern C++ Strong understanding of cache coherency, core isolation, memory management and data structure optimisation Experience with multi-threaded design and lock-free programming techniques Strong knowledge of TCP, UDP, latency measurement and throughput analysis Strong debugging skills and the ability to support critical production systems Experience with Git/GitLab, Wireshark and related engineering tools Highly desirable Experience with exchange connectivity, market data, order gateways, matching engines or trading systems Knowledge of FIX or exchange-specific protocols Experience with Solarflare hardware configuration, OpenOnload or related network acceleration technologies Background in electronic trading, exchanges, market infrastructure, hedge funds or high-frequency trading environments This is a strong opportunity for a senior engineer who wants to work on genuinely demanding low-latency systems within a high-profile financial technology buildout. #J-18808-Ljbffr
