Duties

Help

• You will organize volunteers to support all museum operations including tour guides, information desk workers, greeters, and those who perform administrative support and public outreach
• You will supply professional staff support to volunteers and this position will organize, promote, administer, and manage the volunteer program for the museum, including planning, scheduling, training, and recruiting membership
• You will provide orientation and training for volunteers
• You will be responsible for arranging and managing volunteer events, assisting in museum events and assignment of requested jobs to the volunteers

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector demonstrating knowledge of the principles of volunteer management or general management of subordinates to plan and coordinate museum volunteer programs and knowledge of a military organization. I have experience in policies, procedures, and functions required to coordinate the recruitment, training, appraisal, and reward of volunteer workers. Examples of Specialized experience may include: 1) Practical knowledge of organizations, programs, and the activities suitable for volunteer workers to identify overall needs, assess capabilities and limitations, establish priorities, and plan an effective volunteer program; 2) Demonstrate a knowledge in education methodology, naval history and heritage, and how to relate it to the U.S. Navy ashore and afloat; 3) Responsible for arranging and managing volunteer events, assisting in museum events and assignment of requested jobs to the volunteers

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector communicating effectively with staff and volunteers to support the museum in public outreach. I have experience demonstrating knowledge of software applications used to produce program materials and perform administrative functions such as tracking of volunteer hours. Examples of specialized experience may include: 1) Demonstrating building interpersonal relationships, working effectively as part of a team, and management of individuals representing the museum in public outreach; 2) Strong public speaking skills and ability to engage audiences; 3) Practical knowledge of interviewing principles, methods, and techniques

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-09 SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree, LL.B, J.D., or have completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to such a degree. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement.

GS-09 COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
