Location: Lakewood, CO

Full-Time | In-Office / Denver-Based

Compensation: $120,000–$150,000 Base Salary

JC Porter is searching for a Controller for a growing organization in Denver. This is a hands-on accounting leadership role for someone who enjoys owning the accounting function, improving processes, and staying close to the details.

This is not a role where a large team handles the work underneath you. The right person will be comfortable leading the accounting function while also rolling up their sleeves with month-end close, financial reporting, audits, compliance, analysis, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Maintain general ledger accuracy, account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules
• Lead financial reporting, internal reporting packages, and variance analysis
• Support annual audits, audit schedules, documentation requests, and external reporting needs
• Strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, compliance procedures, and reporting accuracy
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and FP&A-related analysis
• Monitor cash flow, expenses, margins, and key financial trends
• Support tax, insurance, compliance, banking, and other corporate finance needs
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, workflows, reporting, and financial visibility across the business

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA or MBA in Accounting required
• Strong GAAP accounting background
• Experience owning month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting
• Audit support experience
• Compliance experience required
• Strong Excel and financial modeling skills
• Ability to prepare accurate financial statements and explain results to leadership
• Comfortable working in a hands-on role without relying on a large accounting team
• Must live within commuting distance of Lakewood
• Prior Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager experience

Desired Qualifications

• FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, or financial modeling exposure
• ERP or accounting system implementation/improvement experience
• Experience in a growing, entrepreneurial, or fast-paced business environment
