As a Lead Software Engineer (Vice President) at JPMorganChase within the Machine Learning and Intelligence Operations Virtual Agent Assist team, you’ll be a core technical contributor on an agile team that enhances, builds, and delivers trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You’ll partner across product, design, and engineering to deliver critical solutions that support the firm’s business objectives while raising the bar on reliability and developer excellence.Job responsibilitiesDesign and deliver end-to-end full-stack features that improve agent workflows and customer outcomes using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and modern user interface frameworksBuild secure, high-quality production services and user experiences, and apply sound engineering practices to ensure maintainability and performanceLead technical design discussions and drive solution architecture across backend and frontend components, balancing speed, quality, and long-term scalabilityImplement automation and proactive monitoring to reduce recurring issues and improve the operational stability and resiliency of the platformReview code, provide actionable feedback, and raise engineering standards through testing discipline, design patterns, and continuous improvementPartner with product managers, designers, data and machine learning partners, and other engineering teams to deliver solutions aligned to business needsEvaluate third-party solutions and integration approaches, and make recommendations that fit enterprise architecture, security, and reliability expectationsIdentify technical risks early, propose mitigation strategies, and communicate progress and trade-offs clearly to stakeholdersRequired qualifications, capabilities and skillsFormal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience5+ years of experience building and delivering full-stack web applications in enterprise environmentsAdvanced proficiency in Java and experience building services with Spring and RESTful application programming interfacesStrong experience building modern web user interfaces using React and JavaScript/TypeScriptExperience designing distributed systems using messaging and caching technologies such as Kafka and RedisProficiency with SQL and hands-on experience with relational database design and developmentExperience building delivery automation, including continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines and infrastructure provisioning using TerraformStrong testing discipline, including unit, integration, and automated testing using frameworks such as JUnit, Cucumber, Selenium, or PlaywrightDemonstrated ability to lead technical delivery, influence design decisions, and collaborate effectively across teamsPreferred qualifications, capabilities and skillsExperience with micro-frontend architecture patterns and large-scale single-page application designExperience building and operating cloud-based applications aligned to twelve-factor principlesExperience with Amazon Web Services, including ECS, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, and ElastiCacheFamiliarity with Python and applied generative artificial intelligence patterns (for example, agent-based workflows)Strong mentoring skills, including coaching engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and problem solvingChase is a leading financial services firm, helping nearly half of America’s households and small businesses achieve their financial goals through a broad range of financial products.
