As our company continues to grow, we're looking for a motivated, knowledgeable, and organized Construction Sales Representative / Estimator to join our team.

About the Position

We're looking for more than someone who can sell a job. We need someone who understands the construction process, can confidently communicate with homeowners, develop accurate project proposals, and take responsibility for each opportunity from the initial sales appointment through the signed agreement and production handoff.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is comfortable working independently, building relationships, managing multiple opportunities, and following through on commitments.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Relations & Sales

• Review and qualify potential construction projects.
• Attend scheduled appointments and conduct professional on-site consultations.
• Build relationships with homeowners, understand their goals, and discuss project expectations and budgets.
• Explain construction processes, materials, project options, and proposed scopes of work.
• Identify opportunities for additional work and develop new business through referrals, relationships, and networking.
• Maintain consistent communication with prospective clients throughout the sales process.

Estimating & Project Proposals

• Perform site inspections, field measurements, and project evaluations.
• Document existing conditions, photographs, customer requests, and project requirements.
• Develop detailed scopes of work outlining inclusions, exclusions, allowances, and project assumptions.
• Prepare material quantity takeoffs and estimated labor requirements.
• Obtain and review material pricing, supplier quotes, and subcontractor bids.
• Build complete and accurate estimates that follow company pricing and profitability guidelines.
• Prepare preliminary estimates, formal proposals, and necessary revisions.
• Coordinate with company leadership when technical questions or pricing approvals are needed.

Proposal Management & Closing Sales

• Present project proposals and clearly communicate the scope and investment.
• Follow up consistently with all outstanding estimates and sales opportunities.
• Address customer questions, objections, and requested revisions.
• Help customers explore scope adjustments and options that fit their budgets.
• Negotiate within company-approved guidelines and obtain required approvals.
• Guide customers through the approval process and coordinate signed agreements with our office.
• Work toward established sales, closing, and profitability goals.

Organization & Buildertrend Management

• Utilize Buildertrend to track assigned leads, project estimates, proposals, communications, and sales progress.
• Maintain accurate records of site visits, measurements, photographs, pricing, and customer decisions.
• Ensure all proposals have documented follow-up dates and current statuses.
• Keep the sales pipeline organized and communicate opportunities, challenges, and upcoming projects with management.
• Meet company expectations for estimate turnaround times, follow-ups, and documentation.

Project Handoff & Team Coordination

• Prepare a complete handoff package for every approved project.
• Provide the production manager with final scopes, measurements, photographs, material selections, estimated costs, and subcontractor information.
• Clearly document customer expectations, commitments, exclusions, and outstanding decisions.
• Identify potential jobsite challenges, permit considerations, and material lead times before production begins.
• Coordinate with the office and production team to ensure a smooth transition from sales to construction.
• Assist with estimating change orders or additional work when requested.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who has:

• Experience in residential construction, remodeling, construction estimating, or home improvement sales.
• A strong understanding of building materials, construction methods, and project costs.
• The ability to take accurate measurements and develop detailed estimates.
• Excellent customer service, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Confidence working directly with homeowners and explaining project investments.
• The ability to manage multiple estimates, appointments, and follow-ups without constant supervision.
• Comfortable computer skills and willingness to use Buildertrend and other company software.
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for appointments.
• An active California CSLB Home Improvement Salesperson (HIS) registration or the ability to obtain registration before performing regulated sales activities.

Preferred experience: General contracting, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, decks, siding, additions, framing, and residential renovations.
