Maintenance Technician

Talascend is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Livonia, Michigan .


Overview


The maintenance technician will perform general maintenance tasks including plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, office furniture assembly, heating, ventilation, routine inspections, and groundskeeping to support facility operations.


Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance support such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical low voltage, door hardware, office furniture assemblies, and heating, ventilation, and routine inspections
• Perform minor groundskeeping and equipment troubleshooting
• Perform manual labor tasks and support team members during jobs
• Identify hazards to ensure safety of personnel and equipment
• Communicate issues with leadership
• Perform shop clean-up and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent level of education
• Minimum six months facilities maintenance experience or equivalent in class instruction
• Able to solve practical problems and diagnose basic plumbing, electrical, and equipment malfunctions
• Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measurement, including fractions
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Basic skills in the use of power and hand tools
• Basic computer skills to enter information into data systems and research repair methods as needed
• Good driving record and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

• Skilled in the use of a forklift
• General maintenance experience
• Automotive electrical experience
