Responsibilities Serves as a Physician (Psychiatry) in a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) responsible for examinations, diagnoses, and treatment of mental health disorders. Clinical Duties: Serves as a recognized technical authority delivering psychiatric care to diverse patient presentations, including inpatient services, consultation liaison, partial hospitalization, day programs, emergency psychiatric services, telepsychiatric services, and outpatient services. Provides comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluations, prescribes pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatments, and monitors treatment effectiveness. Provides referrals, collaborates with other medical specialists, and offers professional consultation and supervision to allied health staff. Participates in Medical Evaluation Boards, determines mental‑health fitness for duty, and communicates findings to commanding authorities. Administrative and Educational Duties: Participates in hospital‑approved behavioral health training programs, conducts training and supervision for residents and trainees, ensures adherence to Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education standards, assists in guideline development, engages in scholarly activities, and participates in committees for quality assurance, risk management, and performance improvement. Serves on professional staff and provides advisory services at local and national meetings. Presents research and recommendations at national conferences. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens. Basic requirements for Physician (Psychiatry): Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a U.S. or Canadian accredited medical school. Equivalent foreign degree must meet U.S. accreditation standards. Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician in a U.S. state, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory. At least one year of supervised clinical experience (internship or residency) after obtaining the medical degree. Successfully completed accredited residency training in Psychiatry with at least 4 years of experience in the specialty. Selected candidates will receive a salary quote following contract acceptance, determined by the Activity Compensation Panel.
