Trauma Surgical Technologist (Hiring Incentive Eligible) - Operating Room, University Hospital

Responsibilities This position may be eligible for a hiring incentive as outlined in the approved incentive memo. Details to be discussed during the interview process. Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and hospital policies and procedures, including those pertaining to confidentiality; demonstrates CPR according to American Heart Association standards; utilizes the principles of aseptic practice and initiates corrective action when breaks occur; establishes and maintains a sterile field; performs scrub duties; performs sponge and sharp counts; inspects sterile items for contamination before opening; decontaminates instruments according to unit protocols; provides direct patient care according to unit specific competencies; identifies and monitors medications administered from the sterile field; responds appropriately to emergency patient situations; utilizes a PC or terminal to access the Hospital Information System (HIS) and ORSOS system; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards and Electrosurgery Safety Policy and Procedures; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families, and members of the healthcare team in person and via telephone; responds to overhead pages; accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records; participates on committees as assigned; participates in Performance Improvement activities as assigned; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime and call as required; must be available in hospital within (30) minutes of call; related duties as required. Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
