Bring your passion for physical education to a dynamic school setting as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work closely with students who have unique physical and developmental needs, creating inclusive, engaging programs that foster both physical fitness and confidence. You'll play a pivotal role in helping students develop life-enhancing skills while collaborating with a supportive team of educators and therapists.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current certification in Adaptive Physical Education or Physical Education with an Adaptive endorsement
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Adapted Physical Education, Special Education, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Previous experience teaching or supporting students with disabilities in a school setting
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and ability to implement modified PE curricula
- Excellent communication skills with students, colleagues, and families
- Creative problem-solver with a patient and adaptable teaching style
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized and group adaptive physical education lessons tailored to students’ needs and abilities
- Collaborate with special education and general education staff to support motor skill development
- Monitor and track student progress, participating in IEP meetings and providing input on goals and accommodations
- Foster a positive, safe environment where all students feel encouraged to participate and succeed
- Utilize a variety of activities and adaptive equipment to maximize student engagement
- Stay current on best practices and evidence-based strategies in adaptive physical education
