Position Summary

Role emphasizes full ownership of a FastAPI microservice integrated with an enterprise agentic AI platform. The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient full stack engineer with deep backend expertise who can identify scope, drive work independently, and deliver production-quality software from day one.

• Owns and leads the development, maintenance, and evolution of a FastAPI microservice that serves as a core integration layer within an enterprise agentic AI platform.
• Designs and delivers both front-end and back-end components with a strong emphasis on backend service ownership.
• Operates autonomously - proactively identifying gaps, defining scope, and executing end-to-end with minimal oversight.
• Collaborates with AI engineers to integrate AI-driven features and agentic workflows into the service layer.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the full lifecycle of a FastAPI microservice: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
• Build and expose robust, well-documented RESTful APIs using FastAPI and Python, enforcing data contracts with Pydantic.
• Develop front-end interfaces and components using React, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Integrate with relational and NoSQL databases including MongoDB, SQL, and Redis for caching, persistence, and session management.
• Partner with AI engineers to incorporate LLM-driven features, agentic workflows, and AI model outputs into the microservice.
• Serve Node.js and/or Apache-backed services as part of a broader microservices ecosystem.
• Ensure secure, scalable, and maintainable architecture across all layers of the stack.
• Drive development across the full spectrum of service work: new feature development, performance optimizations, and technical debt remediation - balancing delivery velocity with long-term maintainability.
• Proactively identify technical debt, architectural gaps, and new workstreams - owning them through to completion.
• Implement observability and monitoring instrumentation to ensure operational health of owned services.
• Write clean, type-safe, production-grade Python code adhering to best practices and team standards.

Required Skills

• 4+ years of full stack software engineering experience.
• Expert-level Python - clean, production-ready, type-safe code.
• Deep hands-on experience with FastAPI and Pydantic for building and maintaining microservices.
• Proficiency in front-end development: React, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience with Node.js and web server technologies (Apache or equivalent).
• Strong database skills across multiple paradigms: MongoDB, SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL), and Redis.
• Demonstrated experience building, consuming, and owning RESTful APIs in production environments.
• Experience working on or integrating with AI applications - familiarity with LLM-powered services, AI APIs, or ML-driven features.
• Self-directed and autonomous - able to own a service end-to-end, define scope, identify what needs to be done, and execute without heavy oversight.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate effectively across engineering and AI teams.
• Experience with LangChain and/or LangGraph for building or integrating agentic workflows.
• Familiarity with vector databases (e.g., Elasticsearch, Pinecone, Weaviate) and RAG patterns.
• Understanding of LLM behavior, prompt engineering, and context management.
• Experience with LangSmith or similar LLM observability and tracing tools.
• Background in data pipelines, streaming, or batch processing.
• Experience in enterprise or financial services engineering environments.

Must-Have, Verified Hands-On

• Python, expert-level, production-grade code
• FastAPI, deep hands-on, microservice ownership, not just consuming APIs
• LangGraph, real agent orchestration experience, must be able to explain node structure, decision points, and how agents hand off state to each other, this is where the panel goes deep
• MCP (Model Context Protocol), hands-on building or integrating MCP tools/servers
• RAG implementation, ingestion, chunking, semantic search, and specifically evaluation methodology, if a resume lists DeepEval or RAGAS, candidate must be able to explain how they used them, panel will test this directly
• Human-in-the-loop workflow design, specifically how write-actions differ from read-actions and how approval gates pause/resume execution
• Backend ownership, must be able to speak to what they personally built vs. what a team built
• CI/CD, GitHub, Jenkins

Also Required

• React and TypeScript, proficiency level, not just Angular
• Node.js and/or Apache-backed services
• MongoDB, SQL, and Redis, distinct systems, don't accept "database experience" as covering all three
• Full-stack ownership, front end and back end on the same service

• Financial services or enterprise regulated environment background
• LangSmith or similar LLM observability/tracing
