Diesel Mechanic

Diesel MechanicDiesel Mechanics (Class A or B) are responsible for maintaining trucks and service vehicles throughout the mill site to ensure safe, high-performing operations. This role requires hands-on maintenance skills, diagnostic expertise, and leadership capabilities. Mechanics must have experience with electronic engines and be comfortable performing a wide range of mechanical duties.Days and Shift InformationFull-time position working M-F 7AM - 3:30PM, flexibility a must.On-call support requiredResponsibilitiesPerform lube, oil, and filter changes; conduct inspections; diagnose and repair diesel engines and electronic systems on Mack, Freightliner, and Taylor vehicles.Maintain and repair air brake systems, spring and air suspension systems, hydraulic systems, and perform tire changes, engine maintenance, and part replacements.Operate vehicles when needed and assist mill or customer personnel with internal logistics and transportation support.Order necessary parts, maintain tool inventory (must have own tools), and perform basic metal fabrication and truck upkeep.Maintain a clean, safe work environment and report any equipment issues, hazards, or incidents to the on-duty supervisor promptly.Work EnvironmentOutdoor and indoor work around an active mill sitePhysically demanding tasks, including lifting, crawling, and standing for extended periodsExposure to dust, grease, diesel fumes, and machinery noiseFast-paced environment requiring independent decision-making and teamworkQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED preferredTechnical training or certification in diesel mechanics is a plus2–5 years of vehicle maintenance experience requiredHands-on experience with Mack, Freightliner, and Taylor trucksFamiliarity with diagnostic tools, air/hydraulic systems, and electronic enginesComfortable with basic metal fabricationMust have personal toolsReliable and safety-consciousProblem-solver with strong diagnostic skillsWillingness to lead and work independentlyTeam-oriented with strong communication skillsAdaptable and ready for physically demanding workPay/Benefits/Perks$26 - $28/hourAccrue up to five days PTO in first year.
