Base Pay Range $17.50/hr - $21.00/hr Responsibilities Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations. Assist in other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions; if PTCB certified, assist with and coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in pharmacy system operations and cash registers. Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Customer Experience Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience. Model and share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits. Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers. Operations Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, following state, federal, and company policy, and review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct. Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicines, checking interactions, and maintaining workflow. Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist and adhere to Company policies and the Quality Improvement Program. Adhere to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities. Register all related sales on an assigned cash register, handle cash, and facilitate OTC aisle assistance. Answer telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention. Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third‑party prescription services promptly and perform other clerical duties as assigned. Assist Pharmacy Department with inventory management activities: ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments; maintain knowledge of asset protection and file claims for overages, shortages, and order errors. Assist with clinical services such as collecting and labeling patient samples, coordinating with Walgreens clinics and external providers. Support the Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing relationships with the local medical community and outreach to health groups. Assist in exterior and interior maintenance of the Pharmacy Department to keep it stocked, clean, neat, and orderly. Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers, comply with policies, and complete special assignments as required. Training & Personal Development Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program or state‑required certification; PTCB certification may be a condition for promotion to senior technician. Attend training, complete PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits; maintain knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy developments. Basic Qualifications Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English. (Not required in Puerto Rico.) Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends. Preferred Qualifications Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment. Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens. Prefer strong math skills for accurate prescription filling. Prefer good computer skills. Prefer knowledge of store inventory control. Prefer PTCB certification. We will consider employment of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
