Job Title: Pump Mechanic (2nd Shift)
Location: Chicago, IL

A growing industrial repair facility is seeking a Pump Mechanic to join its team on 2nd shift . This role is responsible for the disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of rotating equipment , primarily horizontal and vertical industrial pumps. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with pumps or other rotating equipment such as compressors, motors, turbines, or blowers .

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose mechanical issues in industrial pumps and rotating equipment
Disassemble, inspect, repair, and rebuild large industrial pumps
Perform pump assembly and reassembly after repair or refurbishment
Conduct dynamic balancing of rotors to ensure proper center of gravity and safe operation at high RPMs
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and assembly drawings
Use precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to inspect components and verify tolerances
Operate manual, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric tools used in mechanical repair
Utilize overhead cranes and lifting equipment to move large pump components safely
Maintain work quality within tight tolerances and high standards of accuracy

Qualifications

3-7+ years of hands-on mechanical experience in a repair shop or industrial maintenance environment
Experience assembling and disassembling rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, valves, fans, blowers, turbines, etc.)
Ability to read blueprints and mechanical assembly drawings
Experience using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Experience using manual, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric tools

Nice to Have

Pump repair experience
Dynamic balancing experience
Millwright background or technical/trade school training
Experience operating forklifts or overhead cranes

Additional Details

Multiple openings available
2nd shift preferred , with possible rotating schedule options
Overtime available (10-20 hours per week)
